2021 Engagement Ring and Wedding Band Trends

As we are now over halfway through the year, let’s review trends we have seen so far in 2021 and expect to see for the rest of the year! First and foremost, our 2021 bride is loving elongated diamond shapes with simple, thin bands. This combination helps visually lengthen the fingers, making the hands look dainty and letting their ring pop. In addition, we are seeing a comeback in three stone rings, yellow gold and eternity wedding bands.

Elongated Fancy Shapes

The oval cut diamond has been trending for a few years now and continues to be by far the most requested for engagement rings. Other elongated shapes including cushion, radiant and emerald are also gaining popularity. These fancy shaped diamonds typically face larger. This means that regardless of the carat weight, the stone looks larger than life on your hand.

Three Stone Rings

Three stone rings are making a comeback! Accompanying your center stone with petite, complimentary side stones is a modern take on a classic three stone ring. A solitaire setting lets the center stone’s beauty steal the show but if you want something a little extra to compliment your diamond, round or pear side stones are the perfect addition.

We are seeing many stunning ovals set with smaller round and pear side stones that perfectly harmonize with the elongated center stone. Similarly, emerald shapes with tapered baguettes add a touch of vintage flare for the classic meets modern bride.

White or Yellow Gold?

Rich and vibrant, yellow gold is the highest requested metal. It is a classic for fine jewelry and looks amazing on all skin tones. However, if you are concerned about the yellow gold reflecting color into the diamond, we recommend setting your diamond in a white gold basket with a yellow gold band. This allows you to encompass the look of a yellow gold ring but your diamond will look bright and clear. Yellow gold will endure the test of time and look forever classic.

Wedding Bands

Paired with your engagement ring, eternity wedding bands continue to prove that they are here to stay. Timelessly beautiful, emerald cut and chunky round eternity bands add the right amount of sparkle to your ring set. The best part of eternity bands is that they can still make a statement on their own. Bold brides are also embracing their personality and choosing to mix diamond shapes in their band for a fun and unique look.

While some trends come and go, these 2021 trends are modern takes on classic elements. No matter what style you choose for your engagement ring and wedding band, you will love it for years to come.
